Pure..

A friend in needs a friend indeed,
A friend who bleeds is better
Our thoughts compressed,
Which makes us blessed,
And makes for stormy weather

Coming up beyond belief
More chaotic, no relief
I'll describe the way I feel
Weeping wounds that never heal
Can the savior be for real
Or are you just my seventh seal?

No hesitation, no delay
You come on just like special K
Gravity
No escaping gravity
not for free
I fall down...
Hit the ground
Make a heavy sound
Every time you seem to come around

One love.

I am a New Zealander. My ancestors came to New Zealand less than 100 hundred years ago from Britain, Germany, Holland and the Middle East. But I don't identify with any of those places - I am a New Zealander, it says so on my passport.

Most Malaysian Chinese and Indians have a connection to Malaysia that far outdates my connection to New Zealand……….so I can't imagine how one could say that Chinese Malaysians should identify with China and not with Malaysia, or Indian Malaysians should identify more closely with India.

If it was natural to go to such extremes then why not just make us all citizens of Africa and be done with it?

Let me tell you, who are malays? Can't they just be some people that came from Indonesia long time ago? Or some Arabs came from Middle East centuries ago?

They do not necessary originate from Malaysia! Malaysia could be part of Indonesia or Thailand! What that in the history book does not necessary be the whole truth!

One friend said: "I am malay. My father was raised in a rural village outside of Kuching. He made it through without any of the bumi-biased aids in question and at one point worked for a multi-national organization. I have never requested for or used any educational aids. It is foolish of me to speak out against a system that would benefit me - but I still choose to do so. Truthfully, I dare go as far as to say, I am harshest against my own race."

My agree point being is that malays can make a difference if they are willing to work hard. Remember, there hardly is any substitute to success. Mahathir himself spoke out against the malays and said that they were lazy and laidback.

If you imply that May 13 will occur all over again just because the malays can't earn their way through things - this will show who the real gangsters are.

To stop whining when things are obviously biased will serve to make the government less accountable to the public. Remember, bumis policy has been around for decades, not days. The "backward" malays should have been already on their feet by now - if not highfliers themselves.

Moreover, about the quota system - if malay entrants are not qualified to enter the university but students of other races are, don't let them enter! That will force them to study harder to earn their way in.

If tertiary institutions compromise as quota system for university, what we would have are mediocre tertiary institutions that may go as far as lowering the passing mark so that more of these non-deserving students may pass. This will only degrade the Malaysian education system further.

In the paragraph mention racial harmony. In fact, the projected image of harmony is not entirely an honest one. There won't be true harmony as long as politicians take advantage by playing the race card. And many Malaysians living in Malaysia know that every dimension of life here is racially politicised.

My point was it is no longer a race issue. It is a class issue. While it is still important to realise that the "crime" of Umno was to make it all seem as if only the malays are at the worst end of development.

In other words, not only do the rural malays suffer……….the rural Indians etc, are denied the opportunities too. Poverty is race-blind.

One cannot possibly aid a group at the expense of those who are affected by discrimination. While discrimination is present in the US, it is still very much a recipient of brain gain, Malaysia on the other hand is a victim of brain drain.

Absolutely agree with you...........

I feel so sad that our MCA and Gerakan……….all blind..........act like idiots, they even go to blame professional non-malays for leaving our country……….Sad to say they just want to serve their own private interests. They are the worshippers, followers of the great greedy.

They shamelessly lie, mislead and deceive on all issues, we find the traces of work of these running dogs. They distorted facts, twisting the principle of social fairness, justice and equality, for just to win a bone throws by their master.

The people acted like beasts, had already traded their souls with the devil.

My daughter scored straight As in her STPM exam in 2003, but she was only offered a place to pursue an ordinary science course in University Malaya instead of her choice pharmacy course. Other students (malay pig) with 2B 2C result had the opportunities to enter pharmacy course.

Eventually, my daughter decided to apply Singapore University, she was not only accepted to study a course of her choice, but was also offered a scholarship. Where is the justice?

Now I am thinking to emigrate to Australia for good.

Like many others say, losers will stay, go out winner.

I sympathize with you on your some bad experiences in foreign countries. I can relate 10 similar bad experiences in Malaysia, and I can also relate 10 good experiences in foreign countries. So it is not the few bad experiences that should determine your and your offspring's future.

You feel comfortable in Malaysia because that is your comfort zone, so you prefer not to leave. In a foreign country you don't know their custom as well so you might have behaved inappropriately that caused some bad vibes. Understandable.

All the same, a frog in a well can only describe the world as big as a well. I am not saying you are a frog, just a Chinese saying.

For my overseas experience, I can say that Australia is very beautiful, very high class, very nice country! Indonesia otherwise is making trouble, pirate, robbers, terrorist, they are a "negative group inferior people".

Never go to this inferior country travel, your life will be safe, don't forget terrorist attack in Bali Island. Never employ this inferior people working in your house, they can murder your family and took away your money. Never employ this inferior people working in your factory, they can damage your machines.

I suggest we must employ India, Thailand, Vietnam labours. Thank for cooperate.

Yes, a lot of non-malays in Malaysia are leaving this country. But what the hell, they (babiputras) don't care. They are happy that we leave.

I do agree with you of those you mentioned, our country is stepping backward, we are loosing in all aspects and yet overdue and retard ministers are still available on shelf. The ministers think that they are the only ones capable and qualified to be there and not replaceable, otherwise the country could collapse.

Looking at Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq likes looking at this country future. The well-connected bumis are getting richer. This government is spoon feeding the bumis at this nation expense. I am sick of this country too.

My advise is let them rot in their own stew.

The Barisan government has achieved 0% in reversing the trend of racism.

While South Africa has disbanded racism through the government's initiative after the global news onslaught, our Malaysia government leaders are propagating RACISM and FACISM in every way.

In term of racism, we are the most uncivilised country in the world. Look into our neighbouring countries of Asia, they are advancing economically on a straight forward objectives, for their citizens.

Whereas, we are moving in deviationist path, widely off the international economic theory, for the sole objective of propelling the well being of a supreme race.

Mahathir era is over, here we have Badawi. Is he changing the trend? Not a single sign of it! How about the future under Nazib?

Sad, sad. They have more camouflage in readiness.

Hasn't anyone realised that they (babiputras) prefer that Chinese just emigrate, so they can have the country for themselves? At least that is what they think.

I know, you will say that after the departure of the one million Chinese from Malaysia, the brain drain, there is less wealth in Malaysia, but all the same they would rather we are not there. They see us as sharing their cake, not the actual fact of us creating a bigger cake for all.

Still, from talking to other Chinese in Malaysia, they still prefer NOT to migrate, they'd rather being discriminated against, being second or third class citizens, being bullied, and continue to vote them (babiputras) into power.

Granted, some do not qualify to emigrate, especially to a western country. But ALL the ones I talked to they DO qualify, yet they prefer the comfort zone. And there are countries treating us Chinese more fairly and the migration policies are more lenient.

Can anyone explain such mentality? If that is not stupidity, you tell me what it is.

No wonder already one million Chinese left Malaysia - they are not only fed up with babiputras but also the attitude of their own race.

True....….it is very true..........

The malays are actually digging their own grave and they are trying to dig a deeper and bigger one now.…...

But all of them I have to see are being manipulated by certain top malay politicians so they will support them........

That shows there the general malays are quite stupid and can't think outside the box..…....

Citizens of Malaysia, be you malay or non-malay, it is time to wake up, the earlier the better, and realize that the mother of all problems in Malaysia is not caused by ordinary citizens but by Umno, who have insatiable greed for power and money, and hence must divide this country by race and rule.

It is their insatiable greed that is ruining Malaysia, including our education system and universities. The struggle in Malaysia is not between malays or non-malays, but between Umno-malays and the crony.

The current political environment does not properly and fairly engages opposition parties to debate issues of national interest.

In this age of Internet and information technology, it will be great mistake for any government not to change quickly and try to control and manipulate information to influence the people.

It is wise to empower the people with accurate, factual, meaningful and timely information so that they could use it in a globalised and competitive world.

Information has put power and influence in the ordinary people hands, and a successful country is very much depends on the distribution of timely and accurate information to its people - the western countries are good example.

Without the practise of free thinking, speech and actions, we have a huge problem to overcome the shortcoming of our students and employees. Students and eventually employees that don't know how to work around different circumstances and goals will remain just clogs in an economic machinery controlled by someone else.

And of course the government goes on pretending like they don't exist, or they are cavemen from the jungle. So much for bumis policy.

The Internet is but a reflection of real life. Racists exist in Malaysian societal structure, therefore racists will exist in the Malaysian Internet realm as well.

Oddly although, as long as the government of the day practices institutionalised racism through preferential policies, this racism won't go away. The government can't see that, and therefore Malaysia deserves what she gets.

I am a Malaysian. And stop bad-mouthing Chinese, because part of me is Chinese. If malays end up being slaves, it is their own fault. Stupid, typical malays.

First thing to be blamed is the politic which spoilt them so much that they would never learn to stand on their own 2 feet. Politic is about uniting people in a country, not just a certain race and then be racist.

Leave those comments here as reminder why the malays have to work so hard. The younger ones never had to face those sentiments and it is good that they come to grips with it.

As for harmony, there was never real harmony in Malaysia. There was tolerance - thus faked harmony, but not true acceptance which bring about true harmony.

The directions set out in the first place was wrong. We are living the consequences.

Maybe I should. But wait, I do have a life. Do I need to reconsider that? Don't think so. It is my rights anyway to live how I want to, as long as it is ethically and morally right.

This thread is just a place for discussion just like a cafe. But I see anger. I see hatred. I see un-satisfaction. And I want to see changes so that all these don't continue.

Enough said. I am drawing the line here. Focus on the topic at hand, or shut up if you don't have anything better to say but stupid stuff like emotional, blah, angry, etc.

I apologise for the language. I am tolerant of many things, but not incompetence fueled by misplaced bravado.

For those who plan to move away, pray go with all our blessings. Good luck. There is nothing to be sad about for this country does not even value you. Go and give your children a chance to breath true freedom and justice.

Don't ever thought of coming back for, there are not much pleasant things to return to, even if the government invites you back.

I am currently studying in the Australia, I grew up with the slogan "Malaysia Truly Asia" - however, this is not true, it seems more like "Australia Truly Asia" and let me explain why I think so - when I first landed here, I saw a multi-cultural society consisting of people from various ethnic backgrounds.

It doesn't even matter if the person has landed on the moon, you will only be awarded if you can prove that you deserve it. Your well being here depends on who you are (your personality), and what you can contribute!

Unlike Malaysia, where opportunities are given to the malays, regardless of what they are worth of. Shame! As a Malaysia citizen myself, I am ashamed to tell fellow Australia citizens that I am from Malaysia, because they all know that people like malays are given privileges.

The malays have no pride in themselves and that is why they will never ever be able to compete on a level playing field. There is so much discrimination among the other races that there is no sense of pride whatsoever in being a Malaysian.

Your eyes are open now because you are in the Australia. That is the difference between a developed country and a third world dump!

In this day and age, you can find answers to 80% of your questions simple by typing a few keys on your computer. Try this: Google "XXX".

NEP requires certain amount of bumis to sit on the large companies, and thus many Chinese businessmen choose to own many small companies (SMIs) instead of one large one.

It has its benefits, you pay less in taxes and you don't have to hire puppets. SMIs have their own associations, they even have a bank, where loans aren't given based on racial lines (well, at least the last I checked).

Have a vision. See beyond the past. Our handicaps, whatever it may be, are building blocks of a better future.

The term is plausible deniability. It is a tool of modern politicians that do not wish to be associated with anything that they can be blamed for.

Corruption will only make the poor poorer. It will kill hard work as money can buy one's way. I am sorry if you are holding up bad examples as a model to legitimise this evil.

All this while Mahathir did not know what the meaning of corruption is. That is why Malaysia was heavily corrupted. No wonder now I know why corruption was a pandemic like bird flu because the leader himself not very clear about it or pretend to be not clear. The latter makes more sense.

Again and again, Malaysians were taken for a ride through another issue like this in money-wasting activities just to fulfill an old man's ego.

So, we are a corrupt nation. Tell me something new. First we need to change things that happen at home, internally. The only option we have is to change the government which I hope to see before I died. I may not even live to see that because I may be dreaming.

These single-minded loggerhead top elites steered Malaysians into brick-wall. They are "killing" the burning patriotism of all Malaysians and then Mahathir and Najib went forward with the brainwashing scheme of the Malaysian youths with National Service (NS). If a simple NS will work, a fairy tale may come true.

It really shows that this Najib is "all talk but no sense". The quality of Malaysia leadership!

Najib is a mealy-mouthed liar. I am proud to be a Malaysian but if he becomes PM, I might chicken out and move to Singapore until we got a different one.

I am being serious. Johor, Penang and Sabah/Sarawak would've been a developed country but thanks to the formation of Malaysia, they are not.

Singapore was the only state that had balls back in those days and, Umno-led government knew it and before their ideas creep into the entire Malaysia, they were cut off.

It is a shame that it happened but at the same time you must admit they did the right choice……….malays were not ready to share power 50 years ago and I expect malays to feel the same for another 50 years.

All I want to say is that - sometimes, it does not matter that any one race is lacking, because we are all Malaysians. If we are not good at one thing, there ill always be people to help. Pride should not be a factor. That is one of the main reasons that I feel its causing discord among races these days.

Just try to imagine yourself being denied a chance because of race, because of the pride someone. It hurts and in the long run, it will make you do the same. This will be passed down to your children and they will pass it down to theirs. Imagine a country with everyone having a grudge against everyone.

This is 21st century and liberal democratic value must be the sole criteria, if not the most acceptable form of system, introduced and promoted to a nation-state with diverse people.

Malaysians must do something and not take the crap anymore……….affirmative action is the name of the game! Stop this habit and you can slowly bring Umno racist terrorists down……….We must learn to insult Umno or Umno will insult your intelligence!

Hoping for our Malaysia motherland to revert the numerous declines to do things right again is hoping against hope. Circumstances have changed a lot now. We are no longer in the 60s, 70s, or 80s.

Then, we had god given golden opportunities to speed ahead. At those times, China was a sleeping dragon and a closed nation. The nations of Indochina were embroiled in one war after another. Wages were gradually rising in Japan and Korea, and many multi-national companies were relocating. Thailand was not that stable because of frequent threats of coup.

Because of all these factors and our unique position then we benefited from numerous foreign investments.

We could have grown from strength to strength by capitalizing on our assets, our bilingual if not multi-lingual, our human resources and intelligent. Alas, our myopic ruling parties did not realize our strengths - three major races and cultures, four major languages.

We shot our own feet by being ultra-nationalistic and obsessed with Ketuanan Melayu. We destroyed our strengths.

Meanwhile, the dynamics of the region have changed. China is no longer a sleeping dragon. The nations of Indochina are experiencing peace and hungry for progress and developments. Thailand is progressing by leaps and bounds. They, especially China, are like giant vacuum cleaners sucking in huge international investments. Their citizens, who used to admire our citizens ability in speaking English, are now eagerly learning English.

Much as we complain (the trouble is we only complain here; nothing like this will ever get into the mainstream media) about the many faults our nation is facing, it is almost impossible to see changes and things getting better.

We don't have an open and critical press that can change the thoughts of our citizens, that can expose objectively the numerous wrong doings prevailing in our nation, or that can induce positive political changes in our nation. The wrong doings will continue to be propagated. The wealth of the nation will continue to be channeled to certain privileged individuals.

Wait until our population explodes exponentially to a number that the nation can no longer sustain - when basic infrastructures fail and when food crisis or security becomes an issue. Wait until our oil run dry or when a new technology or product replaces our golden crop, the palm oil.

Perhaps by then, people are no longer in their comfort zones anymore and are prepared to change through people power - a revolution not because of racial or religious issues, but because of the huge gap between the haves and the have-nots.

I was told that during 1960s, professor Wang Gung Wu was more qualified than Ungku Aziz to be appointed as the vice chancellor of University Malaya. However, due to racial-biased promotion policy, it was Ungku Aziz who being promoted as the vice chancellor.

At the age of 38, professor Wang emigrated to Australia with his wife. 14 years later at the age of 56, professor Wang became the president of the University of Hong Kong until 1995. Currently, professor Wang is the Chairman of NUS's Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.

You want Malaysia to follow Singapore. No way they will do it. They are just too proud to admit their errors.

Let them have what they want……….Let them continue what policies they want (with Umno first policies and all others deemed as racial issues stance).

Pardon me to say this:

In not very far future……….bright students will shun local univeisity and all the newly foreign-minted Malaysian PhDs will shun local university……….They reap what they sow. Period.

The spirit of nation building is left with bones, but without the "spine" - all citizens cannot play useful their roles toward journey of Vision 2020……….

Think carefully……….

Non-malay citizens of Malaysia should emigrate to one of these countries where you will be appreciated for what you are and where you can contribute positively to the society.

Your children will definitely have a better future. After a while, you will invariably ask: "What a fool am I. Why and how did I live so long in Malaysia, a country that discriminates me, my children and my family because of our race?"

In the final analysis, non-malay citizens of Malaysia should thank the BN government for making them to send their children to study overseas (although at the time of sending them overseas the decision was painful and costly), thus allowing their children to get exposure overseas, and to get jobs there and to settle down there.

People who survive this sort of pressure will eventually do well. Good for them and their children.

Well said, we wish you well and kindly dismiss those who question your motive or patriotism. These are the bigots whose 'hidden agenda' and myopic vision that is keeping this wonderful bountiful country for progressing.

If you are emigrating for your kids education, you have made a right decision. Remember your kids will be influenced by the good and bad values overseas.

The ideal age for emigration is 16 years old or less. That is why your kids will make it in their careers and settle down successfully overseas.

Well done. Welcome to western culture where there are:

1. Equal opportunity regardless or race or religion
2. Environmental Awareness
3. Government subsidised healthcare
4. Government subsidised tertiary education as well as primary and secondary schools
5. Higher quality living
6. Protection of the labour market via enforced minimum wage across all industry sectors
7. Social welfare standards
8. Unconditional democracy

In the globalization era, we are truly citizens of the world and it is no shame to relocate to 'greener pastures' should you have the ability and the means. Why stay in a place where there are blatant abuses, discrimination and limited prospect for those unconnected!

Feudalistic rules are maintained to fleece the masses, where the titled and corrupted are the 'untouchables' but honest and hardworking citizens must bear the full brunt of the law (and taxed to the hilt).

"There is more than enough to feed the world but not enough to feed the greedy."

If you compute the cost of sending 2 children to an oversea university (probably RM200k to RM500k), it is more cost effective to emigrate even if it paying a bit more tax or giving up a cushion job to enter into the uncharted waters.

If you made it here with an ever-moving goal post; I don't think it will be hard for you to find your niche in a level playing field.

Farewell but do keep us in your prayers.

PAS can push the Islam country concept in Taliban Afghanistan or similar……….so my suggestion is PAS should move there and contest in the next elections there, and see if they can form the next government.

Or they can come having lived a life and dressed up and acting just likes all those guys who hijacked those planes on 9/11. It is best they go to Afghanistan as recommended.

In a country like Malaysia, religion should remain that the domain of the individual and not the community at large. Of course it can also extend itself to all those subscribing to that religion and willingly allow themselves to be subject to that community's way of life religious or otherwise.

But not for one moment should anyone try to enforce his or her believes on to another.

Neither should anyone of a majority religion think that those of not their ilk live so at their pleasure.

Very interesting to get your opinions about the Malaysians emigration and brain drain here.

From my outside perspective Malaysia is a very interesting big experiment. Three different cultures bound together in one country, forced to live and work together gives the country great opportunities.

Even I (staying in this country only for six month) noticed a lot of discriminating things from the Malaysia government against Chinese people, against Indian people and last but not least any other foreigners.

With better and open communications, Malaysians are fully aware of what is going on in the rest of the world. Malaysians would want for themselves and their families the same quality and standard of education and medical care as available elsewhere.

When they cannot get that locally or if they deem that the quality of local services is not up to par, they will leave.

Every year thousands of Malaysians go abroad for their education and medical care, costing the nation billions in lost foreign exchange. With such matters as education, health care and personal consumption, nationalism plays a minimal role.

Malaysians go to Britain for such matters simply because they perceive they would get better services there, ex-colonialist notwithstanding.

In the modern economy wealth resides less with the natural resources or the strategic location of a country, more with its people. As states, "People are the real wealth of nations."

Malaysia is proud of its Twin Towers that grace the skyline of its capital. That monument symbolizes the country's preoccupation with building things physical and material. But the most important infrastructure of the new millennium will be human resources, and the twin pillars to developing that would be education and health.

Mahathir never fails to take visitors to see his joy and pride, the Twin Towers. Would it not be nice if our schools and universities too were of such eminence that foreigners would want to visit them?

Therefore I hope that the governing people recognize that diversity is a chance and not a threat for the country.
